Job summary

The Benevolent Society is seeking a Speech Pathologist to provide services to children aged 0–8 and their families from the Cairns Early Years Centre. You’ll work across the centre, kindergarten, community settings and homes, promoting inclusive, strengths-based practice.

You will collaborate with families, educators and external services to support communication and feeding development, while embracing flexible, hybrid work arrangements and a supportive, values-driven culture.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and member of Speech pathology Australia.
• Experience providing communication and feeding support to children.
• Ability to respond to the needs of people of all abilities and cultural backgrounds.
• Work within a client centric approach while maintaining a positive mindset.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to team upskilling and internal learning.
• A current Australian Driver Licence and willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide Speech Pathology services to children and families through individual, group and play-based supports.
• Support children’s speech, language, communication and feeding development in natural early years environments.
• Work collaboratively with families, educators, the CEYC team, kindergarten staff and external services.
• Coach and build the capability of families, educators and professionals to support children’s development and participation.
• Contribute to inclusive early learning environments that support children’s preparation for school.
• Deliver services across the centre, community settings, schools, community centres and family homes.
