Job summary

Wellways Australia Limited is seeking a Suicide Prevention Peer Worker – Lived Experience Warmline. The role centers on phone-based support, leveraging your lived experience to offer empathy, hope, and understanding to individuals in distress.

This part-time position (22.8 hours/week) is office-based and can be in Gympie or Rockhampton, with a focus on validating participants, building rapport, and safety planning in collaboration with the team.

Responsibilities

• Respond to initial calls with compassionate, peer-based conversations.
• Provide non-judgmental support to validate and empower participants.
• Help participants develop personalized coping strategies and safety plans.
• Explore distress and promote wellbeing through shared experience.
• Coordinate with Suicide Prevention Team Leader to ensure appropriate matching.
