Job summary

Wellways Australia Limited is seeking a Suicide Prevention Peer Worker - Lived Experience Warmline to provide empathetic, phone-based support to people in distress. The role centers on your own recovery journey, offering a validating space where clients feel heard and respected.

This is a part-time, office-based position working from Gympie or Rockhampton. You will respond to calls, support safety planning, and collaborate with the Suicide Prevention Team Leader to ensure appropriate matching

Qualifications

• NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate required (free online)
• National Police Records Check required
• NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (Blue Card in QLD)
• Right to work in Australia

Responsibilities

• Respond to initial call and conduct scheduled support calls
• Hold non-judgmental, peer-based conversations to validate and empower participants
• Support participants to develop personalised coping strategies and safety plans
• Explore distress, identify strengths, and promote wellbeing through shared experience
• Collaborate with Suicide Prevention Team Leader to ensure participants are matched and supported appropriately
