Job summary

Wellways Australia Limited is seeking a part-time Suicide Prevention Peer Worker (Lived Experience) to provide compassionate phone-based support through Warmline. The role centers on your own recovery journey to offer empathy, safety, and connection to participants.

You will respond to calls, hold peer conversations, and help participants develop coping strategies while working with the team to ensure safe, appropriate support. Office-based in Gympie or Rockhampton.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people in distress or bereavement.
• Training or experience in peer-based or lived experience roles.
• Ability to travel if required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to initial contact and conduct scheduled support calls.
• Held non-judgmental peer conversations to validate and empower participants.
• Support development of personalised coping strategies and safety plans.
• Explore distress, identify strengths, and promote wellbeing through shared experience.
• Collaborate with Suicide Prevention Team Leader to ensure proper matching and support.
