Job summary

Aveo is hiring a Maintenance Officer in Brisbane to ensure homes and shared spaces are safe, functional and well presented. You will handle reactive and preventive tasks, from repairs to general handyperson work, engaging positively with residents.

Ideal candidates have a trade background or strong maintenance experience, with a proactive approach and a valid driver’s licence. This is a community-focused role within our retirement living portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Complete general repairs and handyperson tasks such as painting and light replacements.
• Perform small plumbing maintenance including taps and washers.
• Support upkeep of external assets like lighting and sprinkler systems.
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance across the community.
• Manage tools and equipment; record maintenance activities and updates.
• Be a friendly, approachable presence for residents and work with a supportive team.

The Opportunity

As a Maintenance Officer, you will play an important role within the community ensuring homes and shared spaces are safe, functional and well presented. You’ll manage a range of reactive and preventative maintenance tasks, from repairs to general handyperson work, while engaging positively with residents. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a trade background or strong domestic maintenance experience, who is friendly, proactive, and passionate about helping others.

Your Impact

• Completing general repairs and handyperson tasks such as painting, picture hanging and light replacements
• Performing small plumbing maintenance, including replacing taps and washers
• Supporting the upkeep of external assets such as lighting and sprinkler systems
• Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance across the community
• Managing community tools and equipment to ensure they are safe, organised and fit for purpose
• Recording maintenance activities, notes and job updates
• Being a friendly and approachable presence for residents while working closely with a supportive team
• Please note - this is not a gardening role (we have that covered!)

What You'll Bring

• Experience in a general maintenance or trade‑based role, including hands‑on handyperson tasks
• A proactive, solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to assess issues, troubleshoot and take action
• An understanding of maintenance cycles and the expected lifespan of equipment and village assets
• Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain maintenance works in a resident‑friendly way
• A positive, approachable attitude and a strong sense of pride in your work
• A valid driver’s licence (essential)
