Job summary

The Oceanfront Hotel in Cairns is seeking a friendly Guest Service Agent to greet guests, check them in and out, and deliver warm, attentive service that sets the tone for their stay.

You'll know our room types and services, handle reservations and upsell where appropriate, manage guest inquiries with a positive, open communication style, and balance cash and records with care during each shift.

Qualifications

• Reception experience in a similar role or industry.
• Strong customer service mindset and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work across 8am–10pm shifts.

• Handle phone calls, guest requests, and reservations promptly and accurately
• Communicate with guests in a warm, open, and respectful manner
• Know our hotel inside out — room types, rates, and services
• Look for opportunities to upsell and support hotel revenue
• Create and manage reservations based on guest needs
• Carry out front office duties following company procedures
• Resolve guest complaints calmly and professionally
• Handle guest mail, messages, and deliveries with privacy and security
• Balance your float at the end of each shift with accurate cash/card records

The Role

You will create a memorable stay for every guest through warm, attentive service anticipating what they need before they ask, and delivering it promptly, efficiently, and with a smile that's impossible to fake.

What You'll Be Doing

• Run a smooth, professional check-in and check-out experience
• Handle phone calls, guest requests, and reservations promptly and accurately
• Communicate with guests in a way that's open, friendly, respectful, and positive
• Know our hotel inside out — room types, rates, and services so you can speak to it confidently
• Look for opportunities to upsell room categories and support hotel revenue
• Create and manage reservations based on guest needs, availability, and budget
• Carry out front office duties in line with company procedures and management direction
• Resolve guest complaints quickly, calmly, and professionally
• Handle guest mail, messages, and deliveries promptly, always protecting guest privacy and security
• Balance your float accurately at the end of each shift, with all cash and card transactions correctly recorded

• Reception experience in a similar role or industry
• RMS experience highly regarded
