Job summary

PERSOL is seeking a proactive Financial Accountant for a part-time role in Sydney, 20 hours per week. You will manage day-to-day accounting, ensure accuracy, and support the finance team across AR, AP, reconciliations, and month-end activities.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will prepare BAS, payroll tax returns, and assist with audits while upholding internal controls and compliance. You thrive in a hands-on environment and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Accounting or Finance (degree or diploma); CPA/CA studies advantageous.
• Minimum three years' experience in a financial accounting role.
• Experience preparing BAS and payroll tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
• Hands-on SAP experience and intermediate Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable processes including collections, overdue follow-ups, cash applications, and customer queries.
• Process supplier invoices, prepare payment runs, and respond to supplier enquiries.
• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies to keep records accurate.
• Support month-end close activities, including journal entries and reporting tasks.
• Prepare monthly BAS and payroll tax returns; assist with payroll-related activities as needed.
• Review and audit expense claims for compliance with policies.
• Process fixed asset transactions and maintain asset records.
• Support Financial Controller with key finance activities and provide back-up across processes.
• Ensure internal controls, accounting standards, and quality requirements are met.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and take ownership of additional tasks.
