Job summary

PERSOL Australia is seeking a part‑time Financial Accountant (20 hours/week) to support day‑to‑day accounting and ensure accurate, timely financial information. You will handle AR/AP, BAS, payroll tax returns, and assist with month‑end close, reconciliations, and internal controls.

The role reports to the Financial Controller and offers a hands‑on, collaborative finance team environment in Sydney. CPA/CA studies are advantageous and SAP experience is required.

Qualifications

• A qualification in Accounting or Finance (degree or diploma). CPA/CA studies helpful.
• Minimum three years in a financial accounting role.
• Experience preparing BAS and payroll tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of AR, AP, reconciliations and month-end processes.

Financial Accountant - Part time 20 hours per week

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Financial Accountant for a key client of ours and play a role in supporting the accuracy, efficiency, and success of our financial operations.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands‑on accounting professional who enjoys working across a broad range of finance activities, taking ownership of their responsibilities, and contributing to a collaborative team environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for supporting the day‑to‑day accounting functions of the business, ensuring financial information is accurate, timely, and compliant with internal policies and accounting standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing accounts receivable processes, including collections, overdue account follow‑up, cash applications, and resolving customer account queries.
• Processing supplier invoices, preparing payment runs, and responding to supplier enquiries.
• Performing regular bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigating and resolving reconciliation discrepancies and ensuring financial records remain accurate.
• Supporting month‑end close activities, including journal entries, reporting assistance, and general accounting tasks.
• Preparing monthly BAS and payroll tax returns, as well as supporting payroll‑related activities when required.
• Reviewing and auditing expense claims to ensure compliance with company policies.
• Processing fixed asset transactions and maintaining accurate accounting records.
• Supporting the Financial Controller with key finance activities and providing back‑up across critical processes.
• Ensuring compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and quality requirements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and proactively supporting the finance team by taking ownership of additional tasks when priorities are completed.

About You

You are a proactive and detail‑oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a hands‑on role and contributing to a high‑performing finance team. You take pride in delivering accurate work, meeting deadlines, and finding ways to add value beyond your core responsibilities.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A qualification in Accounting or Finance (degree or diploma), with CPA/CA studies considered advantageous.
• Minimum three years' experience in a financial accounting role.
• Experience preparing BAS and payroll tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, and month‑end accounting processes.
• Hands‑on experience using SAP and intermediate Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organisation skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
