Job summary

Sacré Cœur is seeking a motivated Careers Counsellor to support students in making informed education and career choices. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract at 0.60 FTE within our Melbourne schooling environment.

The successful candidate will deliver a comprehensive careers education program, provide individual and group counselling, and help students plan pathways post-school including university and vocational options.

Qualifications

• Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development (or similar).
• Experience in secondary school career counselling (desirable).
• Registration or membership with a professional careers association (CDAA in Australia).
• VIT teacher registration highly regarded.
• Working With Children Check and National Police Check required for non-teaching applicants.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a comprehensive careers education program across year levels.
• Provide individual and group counselling to assist students in identifying strengths and aspirations.
• Support subject selection and post-school pathway planning (university, vocational education, employment).
• Assist students in setting realistic career goals.
• Guide students through decision-making with sensitivity to emotional development.
• Collaborate with pastoral care staff to support wellbeing.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tertiary pathways, apprenticeships, scholarships, and labour market trends.
