Job summary

Penola Catholic College in Melbourne is seeking a dedicated Careers Practitioner to join a supportive and collaborative environment. You will engage Year 12 students and others in explorations of pathways beyond school, guiding them to identify strengths and aspirations and develop informed plans for further education, training or employment.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of career development theories, tertiary admissions processes and SBATs.
• Careers practitioner training or certification.
• Ability to develop, implement and promote effective career plans.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary educational teams.
• Must hold a valid working with children check and a satisfactory national police check.

Responsibilities

• Engage students in explorations and dialogue about their pathways beyond school.
• Collaborate with the Head of Careers to provide guidance, education and support to students, families and staff.
• Assist students to explore post-school opportunities and develop knowledge, skills and confidence.
• Support Year 12 students following VCE results with advice on tertiary pathway placements.
• Contribute to creating an environment encouraging positive self-concept and informed future decisions.
• Work with employers, training providers and educational institutions to broaden opportunities.
