Job summary

Braemar College in Woodend invites applications for a part-time Careers and Pathways Practitioner (80%), with ongoing appointment from 2027. You will guide students and parents through career planning, pathway options and tertiary opportunities, within Braemar's aspirational learning culture.

You will run career development programs, assist with subject selection, VTAC/UCAT advice, resume and interview preparation, and coordinate work placements while maintaining records and supporting student

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification recognised under the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners.
• Strong knowledge of VCE pathway options.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with students, parents, staff and external organisations.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience working with young people and supporting diverse learning and career development needs.
• A valid Employee Working with Children Check or Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration is a requirement of this position.

Responsibilities

• Providing individual career and course guidance to students and parents.
• Leading and delivering career development programs for students.
• Supporting students in subject selection and post-school pathway planning.
• Advising on tertiary education options, including university, TAFE, scholarships, accommodation, fee structures, and admission requirements such as VTAC and UCAT.
• Conducting career information sessions and parent education events.
• Assisting students with resume writing, cover letters and interview preparation.
• Coordinating work placements where appropriate.
• Maintaining effective student records and career planning documentation.
• Ensuring availability across the key timeframes for ATAR release and University offers, usually December and January.
