Job summary

Discover and Learn Academy in Heatherbrae, NSW is seeking an experienced Assistant Director to support the centre's educational leadership and daily operations. This part-time role works closely with the Director to maintain high standards of childcare, safety, and family engagement.

You will mentor educators, help implement programmes under the National Quality Standards, coordinate rosters and budgets, and contribute to policy development while ensuring a welcoming environment for children,

Qualifications

• Must have current Working with Children Check.
• Relevant qualification in early childhood education and care or childcare management.
• Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent.
• Completion of Gecko training relevant to the role.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of the National Quality Standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Director in day-to-day management and operations.
• Assist with educational programmes aligned with the National Quality Standards and curriculum frameworks.
• Mentor and support educators and staff, promoting professional development.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of policies, procedures and documentation.
• Assist with rostering, scheduling and staff coordination to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and participation in self-assessment processes.
• Liaise with families and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers.
• Assist with budgeting and resource management as required.
• Contribute to recruitment, induction and training of new staff.
