InterContinental Sydney, located at Circular Quay, is seeking an experienced Overnight Security Officer to join our Safety & Security team in a five-star luxury environment.

In this permanent full-time role you will conduct proactive patrols, manage risks, respond to incidents, and maintain discreet, professional service while engaging with international guests.

Qualifications

• Current NSW Class 1A Security Operative Licence required.
• Provide First Aid qualification required.
• Current NSW RSA competency card required.
• Minimum 1 year security experience in customer-facing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and manage security risks and take preventative action.
• Respond to incidents calmly and professionally and document actions.

We're looking for an experienced, professional and guest-focused Overnight Security Officer to join our Safety & Security team.

This is a highly visible and interactive role within our five-star luxury hotel, where you'll engage with international travellers, VIPs and high-profile guests. You'll combine professional security responsibilities with exceptional guest service, demonstrating discretion, confidence and sound judgement while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and personal presentation.

This is a permanent full-time position, overnight shifts across the 7 days, Sunday - Thursday 11pm starts and Friday and Saturday 7pm starts.

Your Day to Day – Inspire Incredible

Reporting to our experienced Director of Safety & Security, you'll:

• Conduct proactive security patrols, inspections and safety checks throughout the hotel.

• Identify and manage potential security and safety risks, taking appropriate preventative action.

• Respond calmly and professionally to security incidents, emergencies and guest concerns.

• Maintain a visible, professional and approachable presence throughout the hotel throughout the evening

• Provide discreet and attentive assistance to VIPs and high-profile guests, respecting their privacy and individual needs.

• Support the Night Manager and night team with guest requests and overnight hotel operations.

• Liaise with emergency services and external agencies when required.

• Maintain accurate incident reports, security records and safety documentation.

What We Need From You

We're looking for a polished, confident and approachable security professional who understands the importance of exceptional guest service in a luxury hotel environment.

You'll bring:

• Current NSW Class 1A Security Operative Licence

• Current Provide First Aid qualification

• Current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) competency card

• Minimum 1 year previous security experience, ideally within a customer-facing and guest focussed environment.

• Exceptional English communication skills, both verbal and written, with the confidence to engage professionally with guests, colleagues and external agencies.

• Immaculate personal presentation and grooming, reflecting the standards of a five-star luxury hotel.

• A calm, composed and confident demeanour, with a warm, friendly and approachable manner.

• Discretion, confidentiality and sound judgement, particularly when interacting with VIPs and high-profile guests.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage sensitive or challenging situations diplomatically and professionally.

• Availability to work overnight shifts across all seven days, including weekends and public holidays.

• You must have full Australian Working rights with no restrictions

• Police and Background checks are required for this role
