Job summary

The Department of Health Tasmania is seeking an Appointment Scheduling Clerk (Outpatient - Customer Service Officer) to support patient flow across Outpatient Clinics. This permanent part-time role requires accurate data entry, courteous patient interaction, and attention to detail in health information management.

Qualifications

• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels both within and outside the hospital. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate with patients in a professional, respectful, and sensitive manner.
• Knowledge of patient information management systems, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge, together with relevant clerical experience in a healthcare environment and an understanding of medical terminology.
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with computerised patient information systems and administrative processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical support to ensure the effective coordination and efficient operation of Outpatient reception services.
• Accurately collect, enter, and maintain patient information within manual and electronic patient information systems.
• Perform duties in accordance with clinical, financial, and administrative policies and procedures relevant to Outpatient Health Information Management Services (HIMS).
