Job summary

St John of God Murdoch Hospital seeks an Orthopaedic Technician to maintain orthopaedic and neurosurgical equipment and support the surgical team during operations.

Role involves preparing implants for sterilisation, maintaining records, coordinating stock, and liaising with reps for in‑service training. Relevant CSSD Sterilisation Certification and theatre/CSSD experience are highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of orthopaedic equipment and applications.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the surgical team.
• Plan and organise work activities with basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain orthopaedic and neurosurgical equipment and consignment stock under supervision.
• Prepare implants and instruments for sterilisation and assist CSSD staff when needed.
• Maintain orthopaedic and neurosurgical records.
• Liaise with reps to arrange in-service training as appropriate.
• Check stock/equipment use for cost‑effectiveness.
• Ensure instruments and prostheses for scheduled operations are checked before/after use.
• Monitor inventory of CSSD processed items per policy.
• Ensure adequate supplies for use and coordinate procurement.
• Maintain a safe working environment per WHS and Infection Control.
