Sims Limited is seeking a hands-on Yard Operations Manager for our Bathurst site. You will lead a small team, balance people leadership with operational performance, and manage safety, transport logistics, and customer relations to keep the site productive and profitable.

The Opportunity

As our Yard Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading a close-knit team and ensuring the site runs safely, efficiently, and profitably every day.

You’ll be the go-to person on site, balancing people leadership, operational performance, customer relationships, safety, and continuous improvement.

This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable coaching team members, coordinating transport logistics, managing stakeholders, and rolling up their sleeves when needed.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading and motivating a small operational team to deliver outstanding results
• Coordinating the safe and efficient processing and transport of scrap metal
• Ensuring equipment, people, and resources are utilised effectively
• Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors, and transport providers
• Driving a strong safety-first culture and ensuring compliance with all SHEQ requirements
• Managing stock levels, maintenance schedules, and operational costs
• Identifying opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and site performance
• Creating a positive, accountable, and high-performing team environment

• Experience leading teams in a hands-on operational environment

• Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with a variety of stakeholders
• Experience within manufacturing, logistics, transport, recycling, agriculture, industrial operations, or similar sectors
• A strong understanding of workplace safety and operational best practice
• Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• A resilient, proactive, solutions-focused attitude
