Job description

Operations Manager (Site Manager / Store Manager)

We’re seeking an energetic and driven Operations Manager to lead our Morphett Road swim school in Seacombe Gardens, South Australia.

This is an opportunity to combine hands-on leadership with a meaningful purpose: helping people become safe and confident swimmers. You’ll lead daily operations, develop your team and create a welcoming experience for swimmers and their families.

About the Role

As Operations Manager, you’ll oversee the full scope of site operations, including people leadership, rostering, facilities, safety compliance and customer engagement. You’ll develop and motivate your team to deliver high-quality swimming lessons and a consistent, positive customer experience.

Working with the wider State Swim team, you’ll identify opportunities to improve school performance, strengthen customer relationships and build a supportive team culture. You’ll receive training, guidance and support from our established network of schools across Australia.

This is a hands-on leadership role that requires regular in-water teaching shifts delivering the State Swim program, following training. You will also be required to work one weekend day each week.

Your onboarding and training may include interstate travel to experience the State Swim approach firsthand and learn from our experienced teams.

About You

You’re energetic, customer-focused and passionate about the safety, wellbeing and education of children. You enjoy developing people, building a positive team culture and creating strong connections with your local community.

You may have experience as an Operations Manager, Facility Manager, Site Manager or Store Manager in retail or hospitality. Aquatic industry experience is highly desirable, but we also welcome experienced leaders who are ready to learn and take a hands-on approach.

Our values will guide how you lead each day. You put People First by supporting your team and caring for our swimmers and families. You believe a team is Stronger Together, sharing knowledge and working with colleagues across our network. You Do What’s Right, Not What’s Easy, particularly when it comes to safety and accountability, and strive to be Better Tomorrow Than Today through learning and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

At least four years of demonstrated management experience, ideally in an operations, facility, site or store management role.

Experience recruiting, rostering and managing casual teams, including coaching and performance management.

Confident leadership and the ability to engage, develop and motivate diverse teams.

A commitment to delivering high-quality service in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing operational needs.

Adaptability, accountability and a practical approach to solving problems.

Proficiency in business systems, including rostering software, POS, CRM and Microsoft Office.

Availability to work one weekend day per week.

Willingness and ability to undertake regular in-water teaching shifts, delivering the State Swim program to children and adults.

Willingness and availability to undertake interstate travel as required for onboarding and training.

A positive and inclusive approach to team culture.

Experience in the swimming or aquatic industry and current swim-teaching qualifications will be highly regarded.

A full-time leadership role at our Morphett Road swim school in Seacombe Gardens.

A competitive remuneration package based on your experience.
