Summit Health Solutions ACT Pty LTd is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead day-to-day performance across service delivery, workforce and client experience in Canberra. You will drive service quality, workforce capacity and financial discipline while protecting Summit’s compassionate, person-centred approach.
The role reports to Directors and emphasises accountability, collaboration with care managers and partners, and strategic growth.
Summit Health Solutions ACT Pty LTd – Canberra ACT
At Summit Health Solutions, we believe older Australians should be supported to remain safe, active, independent and connected in their own homes and communities.
Behind every referral is a person. There may also be a concerned son or daughter, a family navigating important decisions, a Care Manager coordinating complex needs or a therapist working to achieve the best possible outcome. How our business operates directly affects all of them.
When operations work well, clients receive services sooner, families feel supported, Care Managers remain informed and staff can focus on delivering excellent care.
Summit Health Solutions is an Australian-owned community health organisation that has supported older Australians since 2012. We provide in-home and community-based allied health, wellbeing and support services across the ACT and surrounding regions. Our multidisciplinary team works alongside older Australians, families and representatives, Care Managers, aged-care providers and community partners.
As Summit continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead day-to-day performance while protecting the responsive, personal and compassionate approach on which our reputation has been built.
Reporting to the Directors, you will provide the operational leadership connecting our people, services, clients and partners. You will lead team leaders and operational employees, strengthen service delivery, build workforce capacity, maintain trusted referral relationships and ensure financial and operational performance is visible and actively managed.
This is a broad senior-management role for someone who can see the bigger picture while remaining attentive to the details that affect clients and staff each day. You will identify problems early, understand their wider impact and turn complex issues into practical, accountable action.
The Operations Manager leads business and service operations but does not independently determine clinical-governance, professional-standard or scope-of-practice matters. These decisions remain with the Directors and appropriately qualified clinical leadership.
Day-to-day operational performance across service delivery, workforce, client experience, systems and business infrastructure.
Team leadership, role clarity, accountability, workforce planning and performance follow-through.
Trusted relationships with clients, families, Care Managers, aged-care providers and referral partners.
Sustainable service growth by aligning referral demand with workforce and delivery capacity.
Operational and financial performance, including revenue, workforce cost, utilisation, productivity and service variance.
Quality, complaints, incidents, compliance, risk and continuous improvement.
Efficient workflows, effective business systems and fit-for-purpose operational infrastructure.
Clear reporting to the Directors, supported by relevant facts, risks and recommended actions.
Operational implementation of new services, growth priorities and Summit’s continued development in aged care.
You combine operational discipline with empathy and emotional intelligence. You can move between people, performance and process without losing sight of why the work matters. You build trust, communicate calmly, manage competing demands and hold yourself and others accountable.
When a problem reaches the Directors, you bring the relevant facts, the risks, the wider business impact and a recommended way forward. You do not need to have every answer immediately, but you must know how to ask the right questions, gather reliable information and follow decisions through to completion.
At Summit, leadership is demonstrated through action. Our Directors lead by becoming involved, understanding the work and showing people what can be achieved. This is not a position for someone who wants to manage only from a distance.
We are looking for a self-aware and adaptable leader who has consciously developed their own approach. You are prepared to step in, understand or stabilise the work and demonstrate what good looks like—then build the capability and systems that allow others to succeed. You seek feedback, continue investing in your professional growth and know how to balance empathy with clear expectations.
A relevant tertiary qualification in business, management, health administration, health, aged care or a related field—or equivalent substantial applied experience.
At least five years' operational or service-management experience in aged care, community health, allied health, home care or a comparable regulated environment.
At least three years' people-leadership experience, including responsibility for team performance, development and accountability.
Demonstrated ownership of budgets, revenue or cost performance, workforce capacity, utilisation, KPIs and service outcomes.
A record of improving services, workflows and stakeholder relationships and leading change through to measurable results.
Clear communication, sound judgement, strong follow-through and the ability to manage competing priorities calmly.
A genuine commitment to helping older Australians age well and remain at home.
Clients receive responsive, reliable and well-coordinated services.
Families, Care Managers and referral partners receive clear communication and dependable follow-through.
Staff understand their responsibilities, receive effective leadership and are appropriately supported.
Referral opportunities are actively followed and workforce capacity supports sustainable growth.
Operational risks are identified early and accompanied by practical solutions.
Service, workforce and financial performance is visible, understood and acted upon.
Summit grows without losing its compassionate and person-centred approach.
Satisfactory National Police Check.
Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration, or willingness and eligibility to obtain it before commencement.
Valid driver's licence, Australian working rights and capacity to travel locally as required.
Ability to meet any other screening or compliance requirements applicable to the role.
A purpose-led organisation where operational decisions have a direct human impact.
A genuine senior leadership role with defined authority, clear performance expectations and access to the Directors.
A collaborative, practical culture that values empathy, accountability, learning and action.
Salary of $130,000–$145,000 plus 12% superannuation, with the appointment point based on relevant capability and experience.
The opportunity to influence the future of a growing multidisciplinary organisation and make a visible difference for clients, families and staff.
Primarily Monday-to-Friday work, with occasional response to genuinely urgent matters; this is not a continuous on-call role.
