Job summary

Aligned Recruit seeks an experienced Operations Manager to lead the Victorian operation, overseeing commercial, project delivery and people leadership. This hands-on role reports to the State Manager and drives growth, quality and operational excellence across Victoria.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of operational, project management or supervisory experience in electrical contracting or construction, including HV/LV work.
• Three+ years of project management experience with knowledge of Australian Standards, WHS and contract delivery.
• Current electrical licence, manual driver licence and White Card.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations across commercial, industrial, infrastructure and service portfolios.
• Set priorities and coordinate labour, equipment, materials and logistics.
• Review programs, productivity, costs and KPIs to keep delivery and margins on track.
• Drive commercial performance through budgets, forecasts, variations, procurement and subcontractor management.
• Partner with HSEQ to maintain AS/NZS 3000, WHS and licensing compliance.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Join an established, family-owned electrical contractor that is strengthening its Victorian operation and seeking an experienced Operations Manager to help support its next phase of growth.

This is a hands‑on leadership role working closely across people, project delivery and commercial outcomes. Reporting to the State Manager, you will lead teams across commercial, industrial, infrastructure and service work across Victoria.

THE ROLE

As Operations Manager, you will provide project and field teams the direction, resources and accountability to deliver safely, consistently while preparing the operation for continued improvement.

Day to day:

• Leading day‑to‑day operations across commercial, industrial, infrastructure and service portfolios
• Setting priorities and coordinating labour, equipment, materials and logistics
• Reviewing programs, productivity, costs and KPIs to keep delivery and margins on track
• Driving commercial performance through budgets, forecasts, variations, procurement and subcontractor management
• Partnering with HSEQ to maintain AS/NZS 3000, WHS and licensing compliance and reinforce zero harm
• Developing project managers, supervisors, leading hands and field teams through clear expectations and feedback
• Resolving escalated site, client and operational issues with calm judgement and decisive follow‑through
• Strengthening tender strategy with the State Manager and estimating team to secure future work

ABOUT YOU

You are a practical, commercially minded electrical leader who creates clarity, earns trust and brings out the best in people. You are equally comfortable on site, in a client meeting or reviewing the numbers behind project performance.

• At least five years’ operational, project management or supervisory experience in electrical contracting or construction, including HV and LV work
• At least three years’ project management experience, with strong knowledge of Australian Standards, WHS and contract delivery
• A current electrical licence, manual driver licence and White Card
• Strong commercial capability across budgets, forecasts, P&L, cost control, contracts and supplier negotiations
• A firm but fair leadership style, with the judgement to manage workplace issues and develop capable teams
• Strong stakeholder and industrial relations skills; Microsoft Office essential, with simPRO and project management qualifications highly regarded
