Job summary

Tradway Furniture is seeking an organized Operations Associate to manage daily orders from our website and showroom. You’ll plan deliveries, coordinate with suppliers, and keep Shopify data accurate while assisting customers on the showroom floor.

You’ll report to the Managing Director and help free up time for growth initiatives. Monday to Friday, 8:00–4:00, no weekends; room to grow into an Operations Manager role within a small, growing team.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail to prevent expensive errors with large-ticket furniture.
• Tech-savvy with quick adoption of new software; Shopify/Cin7 experience a plus.

Job description

Most of your day is operations: processing orders, booking deliveries, handling the inboxes and the phone, and keeping our systems accurate. You will also spend time out in the showroom with customers, more on Mondays and Fridays, which are our busiest showroom days. You will report to the Managing Director and free him up to focus on buying, suppliers and growth.

Key responsibilities

Processing daily orders from the website and showroom.

Booking delivery days with customers and planning the runs with the delivery team.

Placing orders and organising pickups from local suppliers.

Keeping stock and order data accurate in Shopify.

Chasing anything that has gone wrong before the customer has to chase us.

Answering the phone.

Managing the shared inboxes in Google Workspace and replying to enquiries.

Sorting out order problems: delivery changes, missing parts, warranty issues.

Helping customers who come in: answering questions on timbers, fabrics, sizes and lead times, and writing up their orders.

Occasionally helping a customer load a piece of furniture into their car when we are short staffed.

About you

A self-starter. Once you are trained, you run your own day without being told what is next.

Willing to learn the product properly, so you can answer real questions.

Detail-oriented. You triple-check your work. Furniture orders are big-ticket, so mistakes get expensive.

Tech-savvy. You pick up new software quickly. Experience with Shopify, Cin7 or a similar inventory system is a plus, not a requirement.

Good with people. You are comfortable helping a customer on the floor as well as working through a to-do list at a desk.

A clear writer. Your emails to customers and to our wholesale partners read professionally.

About us

We operate as Tradway Furniture (wholesale) and Brisbane Furniture (online retail). Tradway is 100 years old this year and a staple of the QLD furniture industry. Brisbane Furniture sells furniture online and from our warehouse at Hemmant. Retail is growing quickly, and we need someone organised to take the day-to-day running of it off the Managing Director's plate.

Room to grow into an Operations Manager role. We are a small team today and we are growing. The person who takes this role on and runs it well is who we would look to as the business and the team get bigger.

Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 4:00. No weekends.

No hard selling. We never run sales and we never do discounts. One price, the same for every customer - nobody gets ripped off because they bought at the wrong time or didn't haggle hard enough.
