Job summary

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) invites applications for an Operations Assistant, Medical Imaging at Prince of Wales Hospital. The role supports a multidisciplinary clinical team by setting up equipment, helping position patients and cleaning rooms and equipment.

It also transports patients, goods and specimens between departments to ensure efficient service. The position is permanent full time, 38 hours per week, with salary between $67,094.86 and $68,847.01 per annum plus

Qualifications

The Role

The Operations Assistant supports the members of the Medical Imaging multi-disciplinary clinical team by setting up equipment, helping to position patients and provides cleaning of the used equipment and rooms (including Terminal Cleaning) within all Interventional Modalities (primarily DSA).

The Operations Assistant also supports the provision of quality patient care by transporting patients, goods, equipment and specimens to/from various departments within the organisation, in an efficient and courteous manner.

Where you'll be working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria
  • Excellent communication skills, including good comprehension, confidence in the spoken word and ability to deal courteously with people at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in, and be part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow directions, show initiative and use effective problem solving skills when performing tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
  • Capacity to work under broad supervision in a high pressure, high volume work environment.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of this position, including patient transport and manual handling.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning requirements for procedure room.
