South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is seeking a Healthcare Admin & Operations Specialist (Clinical Support) for the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, NSW. The role provides high-level admin support to the Transition Care Unit and coordinates recruitment, rostering, payroll and documentation to ensure smooth daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Holds or willing to undertake a Certificate III in Health Administration or equivalent.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills for drafting correspondence, reports and presentations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and aptitude for learning HealthRoster, StaffLink and My Health Learning.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work under broad supervision in a high-volume healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level administrative and operational support to the Transition Care Unit (DB2N).
  • Coordinate workforce activities including rostering, leave, recruitment, and orientation.
  • Manage payroll, credentialing, equipment, stock ordering and uniforms.

The Role

The Clinical Support Officer provides high-level administrative and operational support to the Transition Care Unit (DB2N), working closely with the Nursing and Nurse Unit Managers and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. The role supports workforce coordination, including rostering, recruitment, leave, payroll, staff orientation and credentialing, as well as resource and equipment management, stock ordering and uniform requirements. The position also contributes to documentation and records management, quality and accreditation activities, incident management and patient discharge processes, while coordinating meetings, multidisciplinary ward rounds, staff travel and other administrative activities. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the unit and supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.

Where You'll be Working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

  • Holds or is willing to undertake a Certificate III in Health Administration or equivalent.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills including the ability to draft correspondence, reports, presentations and deal confidently and courteously with people at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint or Similar), as well as aptitude for acquiring skills in customised software (e.g HealthRoster, Stafflink, My Health Learning) when and as required.
  • Strong Organisational Skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Capacity to work under broad supervision and to undertake a diverse range of tasks as an effective member or a team in a high pressure, high volume workplace.
