Gymea Bay Care & Leisure Centre – Gymea Bay NSW invites applications for an OOSH Leadership Opportunity as Assistant Coordinator. This permanent part-time role supports the Coordinators and Centre Director in delivering before/after school care and vacation programs for up to 180 children, with shifts 7am-9am and 2pm-6pm during term time.

• Minimum 3 years experience in professional child-related field.
• Valid Working with Children Check.
• Current First Aid Certificate.
• CHCPRT001/CHCPRT025 Child Protection Certificates.
• Completion of or willingness to complete National Child Safe Training.
• Strong communication to develop positive relationships with children, families and stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a close-knit team.
• Positive attitude and can-do approach to challenging situations.
• Be flexible and adaptable to change.
• Advocate for child safety; undertake National Child Safe Training during induction.
• Understanding of child safe standards and supervision techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist in leading and coordinating OOSH programs alongside Coordinators and Centre Director.
• Support delivery of Before/After School and Vacation Care within the team.
• Participate in inductions, training and service visits as required.
• Contribute to a positive, child-safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Support shift rosters and flexible hours during school terms and holidays.

Are you looking for rewarding role in a supportive TEAM environment?

GBOOSH is a not-for-profit community-based centre providing care for 5-12 year olds in Before School, After School & Vacation Care. We are looking for a motivated and inspiring child-care leader to join our outside school hours team located on the grounds of Gymea Bay Public School.

Applicants must be energetic, passionate and committed to providing quality OOSH programs to our community. We are a fun and busy OOSH service licenced for up to 180 children per session.

About the Role:

Permanent part-time Assistant Coordinator, supportive role and working alongside our existing Coordinators and Centre Director.

Hours and salary conditions are subject to negotiation with each candidate based on skills and knowledge.

Shifts are rostered Monday - Friday between the hours of 7am - 9am and 2pm - 6pm in school terms, with shifts changing during school holidays to meet extended program hours of 7am - 6pm .

Suitable applicants will be contacted for round 1 interviews by phone. Second round interviews conducted in-person, including a service visit to see our well resourced centre.

Training and inductions to commence ASAP.

GBOOSH is a child safe organisation, so a priority and focus on child safety and wellbeing is a MUST!

Completion of a diploma or university degree in a field relating to working with families/children.

Minimum 3 years experience working in professional child related field.

Valid paid Working with Children Check.

Current approved First Aid Certificate.

Accredited Child Protection Certificate (CHCPRT001/CHCPRT025)

Completion of (or willingness to complete) new National Child Safe Training

Be an advocate for child safety and well-being, with the requirement undertake National Child Safe Training during induction process to further understand all aspects of the Child Safety Reforms.

An understanding of the child safe standards, supervision techniques and child protection legislation.

Experience working with children, with a commitment to child safety and continuous improvement through the NQS.

Experience implementing & evaluating developmentally appropriate, engaging programs in the child care/OOSH industry.

Ability to work alongside children with additional needs to provide inclusive care opportunities.

Effective team player who enjoys working in a fun, energetic and busy workplace.

Personality and skills to effectively communicate with a variety of people, manage large teams, balance competing priorities and have an eye for attention to detail.
