Job summary

HBT Group is seeking a Technical Support Specialist to provide on-site support for underground mining equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. You will audit, repair/replace components, monitor equipment in production, and deliver productivity improvements and training to longwall personnel.

The role requires travel to customer mine sites, willingness to work shifts, and strong focus on health and safety. Experience with HBT equipment and underground mining is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or higher is highly regarded.
• Trainer and assessor qualifications are valued.
• Experience providing technical support for high-performance machinery.
• Familiarity with HBT equipment operation and maintenance is desirable.
• Coal board medical certification is desirable.
• Underground longwall mining experience.
• Strong emphasis on health and safety.
• Willingness to travel to customer mine sites, including nights away from home.

Responsibilities

• Perform service tasks and resolve technical problems on-site across installation, maintenance, repairs, upgrades and retrofits.
• Identify potential equipment failures and advise corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Lead or participate in Root Cause Analysis processes as required.
• Coordinate materials, parts, and documentation for service activities.
• Perform equipment health inspections and parameter audits.
• Analyse equipment performance to identify optimization opportunities.
• Provide training to longwall personnel on HBT equipment operation and maintenance.
• Build strong relationships with customers and understand their needs.
• Identify new sales opportunities and communicate them internally.
