Are you the one who quietly gets the office sorted while everyone else is still talking about it?
Tired of saying "there's a better way to do this" and nobody listening?
Want to finish at 3pm and still know you ran the place?
Read on.
Who we are
Metro Machining is a precision machining, line boring, cylinder honing and fabrication business with three workshops across Campbellfield and Drouin. Our workshops are busy, shutdown season is booked, and we're growing. The office needs to catch up with the workshop. That's where you come in.
Why you'll like working here
- $80k to $95k + super, depending on your skills and track record
- 7am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. Home in time for the rest of your life.
- Real ownership of the office, direct access to the Directors and a weekly one-on-one
- Team development days twice a year
- A planned first 90 days and proper training on our systems
- A new computer set up with every login before you start
- AI tools and automations that take the repetitive work off your plate (drafting, reports, data checks, routine paperwork), yours to use and build on
- Room to grow: as we grow, so does the role, with more responsibility and a bigger team to run
- Once you're through your first 3 to 6 months and across our systems, scope to work from home 1 to 2 days a week
What you'll own
- The books: bank recs in MYOB, month-end closed by the 10th, supplier statement recs
- Payroll and tax: weekly payroll, super and payslips, BAS and IAS on time, every time
- Getting paid: invoicing within two business days of a job finishing, a call on every invoice the day after it goes out and the day before it's due, and overdue accounts and open quotes followed up by the book
- The front door: credit checks and signed account paperwork for every new customer before work starts
- The office: records, the compliance register, new-starter paperwork, and help with recruitment and social media
- The way it all runs: clear written processes anyone could pick up and follow
What we need from you
- You've owned a full set of books (AP, AR, bank recs and month-end) without someone else finishing them off
- You've run a full payroll and prepared a BAS yourself
- You write things down, so the business isn't relying on what's in your head
- You hold the line on process, and stay calm and firm when a customer is slow to pay
- You're discreet with payroll, pay rates and company financials
- You're comfortable with AI tools at work, or keen to get better at them
- Bonus points for MYOB and a background in a trade, engineering or manufacturing business
You’ll need full, unrestricted right to work in Australia. We can't sponsor visas.
