Job summary

Blossoming Support Service is seeking an experienced Nursing Support Worker to assist nursing and care professionals in delivering safe, high-quality care. You will operate within your qualifications and delegated authority under supervision.

The role involves supporting patients with daily living activities, mobility, meals and basic observations, while maintaining documentation and infection-control standards.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or related qualification.
• At least 1 year of nursing support experience.
• Experience under supervision of nursing/healthcare professionals.
• Knowledge of basic observations, infection control and manual handling.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Current National Police Check.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check where required.
• Strong observational, communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to recognise health and safety concerns.
• Ability to work within professional boundaries and delegated authority.
• A valid Australian driver's licence when travel between client locations is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with delivery of individual care plans.
• Support personal hygiene, dressing, grooming and continence care.
• Assist mobility, transfers, repositioning and pressure-injury prevention.
• Take and record basic observations when trained.
• Monitor clients and report changes to supervising nurse.
• Assist with meals, feeding, nutrition and hydration.
• Support prescribed exercises and rehabilitation activities under direction.
• Prepare, clean and store care equipment per infection-control procedures.
• Assist with medication support within qualifications and delegated authority.
• Maintain accurate progress notes and handover documentation.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies and escalate concerns promptly.
• Support clients and families with respectful communication and emotional reassurance.
• Maintain client privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
• Participate in training, clinical handovers, care reviews and quality-improvement activities.

We are seeking an experienced Nursing Support Worker to assist nursing and care professionals in delivering safe and high-quality care. The successful applicant will work within their qualifications and delegated authority and under the direction or supervision of appropriately qualified nursing or healthcare personnel.

Main duties

• Assisting nursing and care staff with the delivery of individual care plans;
• Supporting clients with personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence care;
• Assisting with mobility, transfers, repositioning and pressure-injury prevention;
• Taking and recording basic observations, such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure or weight, where trained and authorised;
• Monitoring clients and reporting changes in physical condition, behaviour, mental state or general wellbeing to the supervising nurse or manager;
• Assisting clients with meals, feeding, nutrition and hydration;
• Supporting prescribed exercises and rehabilitation activities under appropriate direction;
• Preparing, cleaning and storing care equipment in accordance with infection-control procedures;
• Assisting with medication support only within the employee’s qualifications, training and delegated authority;
• Following clinical instructions, risk assessments and health-management plans;
• Applying infection-prevention, manual-handling and workplace health and safety procedures;
• Maintaining accurate progress notes, observation records, incident reports and handover documentation;
• Responding appropriately to incidents and emergencies and escalating concerns promptly;
• Supporting clients and families with respectful communication and emotional reassurance;

Qualifications and experience

• Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability or another relevant qualification;
• At least one year of relevant experience as a nursing support worker, assistant in nursing, personal care worker or similar;
• Experience working under the direction or supervision of nursing or healthcare professionals;
• Knowledge of basic clinical observations, personal care, infection control and manual handling;
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates;
• Current National Police Check;
• NDIS Worker Screening Check where required;
• Strong observational, communication and documentation skills;
•  The ability to recognise and recognise health and safety concerns;
•  The ability to work within professional boundaries and delegated authority; and
•  A valid Australian driver licence where travel between client locations is required.

Availability to work on a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, may be required.
