Job summary

Ageing Australia in Port Broughton is seeking a dedicated Nursing Support Worker to assist residents with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and support medication administration under nurse supervision.

You will contribute to a person‑centred, well‑resourced facility, provide emotional support, document changes in health and behaviour, and collaborate with nursing staff to uphold dignity and wellbeing for seniors.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Aged Care or equivalent required.
  • 1+ years of full-time aged care or disability support experience.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance preferred (issued within last 5 years).
  • Reliable transport.
  • Compassionate, with strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living activities including personal hygiene, mobility, and meals.
  • Measure and record vital signs, weight, and intake/output as directed.
  • Support medication management under nurse supervision.
  • Assist with wound care and reporting changes to nursing staff.
  • Implement prescribed therapy plans and assist with mobility support.
  • Assist therapists during treatment sessions and support dementia care.

Job Description
Clinical & Care Support:
  • Assist residents with daily living activities including personal hygiene, mobility, and meal assistance while promoting independence
  • Measure and record vital signs, weight, and fluid intake/output as directed
  • Support medication management by reminding residents and assisting with medication administration under nurse supervision
  • Assist with basic wound care, applying dressings, and reporting any changes to nursing staff
Therapy & Rehabilitation Assistance:
  • Implement prescribed therapy plans including gentle exercises and mobility support
  • Assist occupational therapists and physiotherapists during treatment sessions
  • Support dementia care by implementing behaviour management strategies
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper records of care provided
  • Document changes in resident conditions, behaviours, or care needs
  • Complete incident reports and risk assessments when required
  • Provide emotional support through active listening and meaningful conversation
  • Encourage resident participation in social activities and community programs
  • Advocate for resident rights and preferences in all care decisions
Safety & Compliance:
  • Follow infection control protocols including proper hand hygiene and PPE use
  • Assist with manual handling using correct equipment and techniques
  • Report maintenance issues, hazards, or near misses promptly
