Job summary

Blossoming Support Service is seeking a qualified Personal Care Assistant to provide consistent, respectful personal care to clients in accordance with individual care plans and assessed needs.

You will assist with showering, mobility, medication support and daily living activities, while maintaining privacy, dignity and safety. The role involves documentation, infection control and collaboration with clinicians and families.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent qualification.
• At least 1 year of relevant personal care experience.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Current National Police Check.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check where required.
• Knowledge of infection control, privacy and duty-of-care requirements.
• Strong observational, communication and written documentation skills.
• Compassionate, respectful and client-focused approach.
• Physical capacity to perform duties.
• Valid Australian driver licence if travel between client locations is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with showering, bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting.
• Provide continence care maintaining comfort, privacy and dignity.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, positioning and pressure-care procedures.
• Support eating, drinking and meal-related assistance.
• Monitor health, skin condition, mobility and wellbeing and report changes.
• Assist with medication per policies and care plans.
• Implement care plans and follow supervisor instructions.
• Support prescribed exercises and daily living routines.
• Use hoists and mobility aids safely.
• Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic care environment.
• Apply infection-control and PPE procedures.
• Complete progress notes, care records and handovers.
• Provide emotional support and maintain client–family relations.
• Protect confidentiality and comply with safeguarding requirements.
• Participate in care reviews, meetings, training and WHS activities.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

Supporting clients with eating, drinking and meal-related assistance;

Monitoring clients during personal care and promptly reporting changes in their health, skin condition, mobility, appetite, behaviour or general wellbeing;

Assisting with medication in accordance with company policies, care plans and the employee’s authorised level of training;

Implementing individual care plans and following instructions provided by supervisors and relevant healthcare professionals;

Supporting clients with prescribed exercises and daily living routines within the employee’s training and authority;

Using hoists, transfer equipment and other mobility aids safely;

Maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic care environment;

Completing progress notes, care records, incident reports and handover information accurately;

Providing emotional support and maintaining respectful relationships with clients and their families;

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should have:

• Demonstrated experience assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, transfers and activities of daily living;

• Current First Aid and CPR certificates;

• Current National Police Check;

• Knowledge of infection control, manual handling, privacy and duty-of-care requirements;

• Strong observational, communication and written documentation skills;

• A compassionate, respectful and client-focused approach;

• The physical capacity to safely perform the inherent duties of the role; and

• A valid Australian driver licence where travel between client locations is required.

Availability to work according to client needs, including rotating morning, afternoon or weekend shifts, may be required.
