Job summary

NSW Health is seeking a Nurse Manager 4 – Patient Flow Manager for St George Hospital on a permanent full-time basis. The role leads patient flow strategy, capacity planning and cross-disciplinary coordination to optimise patient access and bed management.

You will oversee the Patient Flow portal, data reporting and liaison with NSW Ambulance and community services, ensuring high-quality patient care and achievement of KPIs.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Holds tertiary management qualifications or equivalent work experience relevant to the role and demonstrated evidence of recent professional development to further enhance leadership and management competencies.
• Demonstrated high level skills in leadership and management within a complex health care setting utilised to achieve organisational and professional outcomes.
• Demonstrated effective verbal, written and negotiation skills with an aptitude to utilise relevant information technology platforms and ability to provide clear and concise plans and reports.
• Demonstrated understanding of patient flow associated KPIs including Emergency Treatment Performance (ETP) and Elective Surgery Access performance (ESAP).
• The ability to initiate and adapt to organisational change to achieve safe and effective patient flow and achieve performance targets.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary management team.
• Demonstrated ability to collate, interpret and analyse data to enable improved patient flow and service outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, operational and strategic planning and direction in patient flow, demand and activity across the facility.
• Lead the patient flow team to ensure efficient and effective care coordination and patient flow and to improve the patient experience.
• Coordinate the site management of the Patient Flow portal and the Electronic Journey Boards and report data to MoH bed reporting systems.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders including NSW Ambulance service, community services and other healthcare facilities.
