Job summary

Yarra Hills Secondary College in the outer eastern Melbourne region seeks a Numeracy Learning Specialist. You will provide instructional leadership, drive whole-school numeracy improvement, lead assessment and reporting, and collaborate with KLA Leaders to raise NAPLAN numeracy outcomes.

This three-year tenure role combines hands-on classroom leadership with coaching, modelling and professional learning across campuses, supporting teachers to implement explicit teaching, data-informed decision

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expert knowledge of the curriculum and teaching practice.
• Ability to model high-impact teaching strategies and literacy/numeracy across topics.
• Ability to monitor and assess student learning using data to inform practice.
• Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with staff and community.
• Ability to lead school-wide professional learning and reflective practice.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
• Model exemplary classroom practice including teaching demonstration lessons.
• Collaborate with leaders to develop a shared view of effective teacher practice.
• Lead whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
• Provide professional learning, observation and feedback to teachers.
• Model use of student data to inform teaching and provide feedback to students and parents.
• Offer expert advice on curriculum context and professional learning strategies.
• Supervise and mentor student teachers and coach teachers.
• Promote school-wide professional learning structures and PLCs.
• Seek feedback from others to improve practice through critical reflection.
