Job summary

The Athlete’s Foot in Sydney is seeking a National Training Manager ANZ to lead strategy and develop store teams across Australia and New Zealand. You will oversee onboarding, product knowledge, leadership development and the accreditation pathway from Fit Technician to Master Fit.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will manage a team, partner with area and store managers, and travel across the region to deliver impactful learning experiences and ensure compliance and KPIs.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a national or multi-site training function.
• Ability to coach, motivate and create accountability within a team.
• Strong retail, sales or customer experience background.
• Proven capability in designing engaging learning programs for frontline teams and leaders.
• Excellent facilitation and presentation skills with diverse audiences.
• Experience using LMS platforms and training data to monitor completion and compliance.

Job description

AtThe Athlete’s Foot, our people are at the heart of creating exceptional customer experiences. As National Training Manager ANZ, you’ll lead the strategy that builds the capability, confidence and product expertise of our store teams across Australia and New Zealand.

This is a full time role based in Alexandria Sydney. Reporting to theGeneral Manager - The Athlete’s Foot, you’ll lead a team of State Training Managers and work closely with our Store Managers, Area Managers and wider support office teams to turn business priorities into engaging, practical and impactful learning experiences. Travel across Australia and New Zealand will be required.

From onboarding and product knowledge through to leadership development and our Fit Technician to Master Fit accreditation pathway, you’ll play a key role in developing the next generation of retail talent across TAF.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Develop and deliver the national training strategy and annual training calendar, aligned to business priorities, seasonal campaigns and sales objectives.
• Lead, coach and develop the State Training Manager team across Australia and New Zealand.
• Identify capability gaps across the store network and translate business needs into practical learning and development programs.
• Design and facilitate engaging onboarding, induction, product knowledge, customer experience and sales training.
• Own and continuously evolve the TAF accreditation pathway from Fit Technician through to Master Fit, ensuring consistent standards across the network.
• Lead national training programs, seminars and events including Fit Uni, Future Leaders and TAF Conference.
• Partner with Area and Store Managers to develop targeted coaching and capability plans.
• Own the Learning Management System (LMS), monitoring completion, compliance and training effectiveness.
• Design leadership development programs that support succession planning and internal career progression.
• Partner with Buying, Planning and Marketing to ensure product launches, campaigns and key brand initiatives are supported with relevant training.
• Support the rollout of new technology, systems and business initiatives by developing training content, facilitating pilots and supporting change across the network.
• Measure the impact of training through relevant KPIs including sales performance, conversion, mystery shop results and completion rates.
• Manage the national training budget and relationships with external training providers, facilitators, suppliers and RTOs.
• Ensure training content remains aligned with relevant Australian and New Zealand compliance, OH&S and legislative requirements.
• Travel regularly across Australia and New Zealand to connect with stores, deliver training and support the retail network.
• Champion The Athlete’s Foot and Accent Group culture, brands and products through everything you do.

What you’ll bring:

We’re looking for an experienced learning and development or retail training leader who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

You’ll bring:

• Demonstrated experience leading a national or multi-site training, learning and development function.
• Experience leading and developing a team, with the ability to coach, motivate and create accountability.
• Strong retail, sales or customer experience background, ideally within a multi-site environment.
• Proven capability in designing and delivering engaging learning programs for frontline teams and leaders.
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage everyone from new starters through to senior leaders.
• Experience using LMS platforms and training data to monitor completion, compliance and program effectiveness.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence across a complex, cross-functional environment.
• A commercial mindset and an understanding of how capability development can translate into customer experience and business performance.
• Strong project and change management capability, particularly when introducing new systems, processes or initiatives.
• Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills.
• A genuine passion for people development, retail and creating exceptional customer experiences.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel extensively across Australia and New Zealand.
