Job summary

St John Paul II Catholic College Schofields is seeking a qualified Music Teacher to join our dual-campus high school on a temporary basis commencing Term 1 2027. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality music education and work within a Catholic learning community.

Applicants should hold NESA Accreditation and demonstrate ability to differentiate instruction, integrate technology where appropriate, and collaborate with staff to support student learning. WWCC clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Must be a NESA Accredited Teacher.
• Strong pedagogical knowledge and ability to differentiate learning to maximise student outcomes.
• Experience delivering music across a secondary school setting.
• Ability to plan, deliver and assess music lessons with appropriate feedback.

Responsibilities

• Teach Music to students within the junior/senior curriculum.
• Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
• Assess student progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support whole-school learning goals.

The College is a dual campus, with campuses at Schofields and Nirimba Education Precinct. The College begins at 8 am and concludes at 2:15 pm.

• Qualifications to teach Music


• Strong pedagogical knowledge base and understanding of how the identified subject areas are learned, what affects students’ opportunities to learn the subject matter and how the learning and teaching of the subject matter can be enhanced


• An understanding of how to differentiate learning to cater for students needs in order to maximise student learning


• Sound understanding of the learning environments, lesson plans, use of technology, teaching practices and delivery of assessment and learning feedback


• Committed to the continual improvement of your teaching practice and take opportunities for personal and professional development


• Work creatively and collaboratively within a range of ‘communities’ inside and beyond the school and set high, achievable goals for yourself and your students


• Able to motivate students to achieve and develop a life‑long love of learning


• NESA Acceditation, Statements of Service and References (during pre‑employment checks)


• Working with Children Check (Employee) or willing to obtain
