Job summary

Niche Talent is seeking a Payroll and Accounts Payable Officer to join our Brisbane-based finance team. This office-based role manages end-to-end payroll for 150–200 employees across multiple entities, using Xero and related payroll platforms.

You will handle accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and provide broader bookkeeping support with a focus on accuracy and timely reporting. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in payroll or bookkeeping, multi-entity payroll experience, and strong Xero

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in payroll, bookkeeping or similar accounting support role.
• Experience with multi-entity payroll processing is essential.
• Experience using payroll platforms such as Tanda, Employment Hero or Deputy.
• Strong understanding of payroll requirements and entitlements.
• Advanced Xero payroll proficiency and end-to-end processing.
• Solid accounts payable, receivable and reconciliation knowledge.
• Full Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll in Xero for 150–200 employees across entities.
• Import and review timesheets from Tanda, resolve discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable and credit card reconciliations.
• Complete bank reconciliations and prepare account summaries.
• Prepare BAS and instalment activity statements (ATO lodgement).
• Conduct month-end journals and contribute to financial reporting.
• Assist with year-end workpapers and support the accountant.
• Prepare customer payment reports and chase outstanding balances.
• Maintain accurate records and meet payroll/reporting deadlines.
