Platinum Blasting Services in Moranbah, QLD, is seeking an experienced MPU Operator to operate mobile mixing units and contribute to precise blasting outcomes on local contracts.

You will work a 7:7 roster with camp accommodation, and have flexible travel options (FIFO, DIDO, or BIBO). The role emphasizes safety, team support, and opportunities for career progression within a dedicated crew.

Qualifications

• Experience operating MPU/MMU or similar equipment in open-cut mining.
• Statement of Attainment for MPU Operating (RIIBLA203E) is required.
• Ability to obtain a QLD Explosives Security Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Operate MPU trucks to manufacture and deliver bulk explosives to blast sites.
• Maintain accurate operation records and report issues to the Shift Supervisor.
• Perform pre-start checks and support preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Adhere to safety, environmental and compliance requirements.
• Support the wider team to meet daily targets.

The Role

As an experienced MPU Operator, you’ll be hands on with our mobile mixing units by safely loading, transporting and pumping to deliver precise blasting outcomes. You’ll report to the Shift Supervisor and work closely with the rest of the crew to keep operations on track using advanced equipment in a safety-first environment.

What You’ll Do

• Operating MPU trucks safely to manufacture and deliver bulk explosives to blast holes
• Track and maintain accurate records and proactively report any issues to the Shift Supervisor
• Carry out pre-start checks and support preventative maintenance on equipment
• Following all safety, environmental, and compliance requirements
• Support the wider team to achieve daily targets

What You’ll Need

Must-haves:

• Right to work in Australia without restriction
• Previous experience operating MPU/MMU or similar equipment in an open cut mining environment
• Statement of Attainment for MPU Operating e.g. RIIBLA203E – Conduct Mobile Mixing of Explosives
• Standard 11 (or willingness to obtain)
• QLD Explosives Security Clearance Card (or ability to obtain)
• Able to pass pre-employment checks including medical, drug and alcohol and background checks

Nice to Have:

• Relevant RII to operate a Heavy Rigid Vehicle – RIIVEH307F
