Job summary

Platinum is hiringBlast Crew in Queensland for immediate start. You will safely prepare and execute blasting activities across multiple sites, reporting to the Shift Supervisor and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Role requires QLD coal board medical within 12 months, RIIBLA201E or equivalent qualifications, an explosives clearance, and ability to pass pre-employment checks. FIFO/DIDO options and 7:7 rosters are available.

Qualifications

• Must have Blast Crew experience in open cut mining.
• Current QLD coal board medical completed within the last 12 months.
• Statement of Attainments for explosive handling (RIIs) e.g. RIIBLA201E.
• Valid QLD Explosives Security Clearance Card.
• Able to pass pre-employment checks including medical, drug and alcohol and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Dip, prime, load, stem, and tie-in blast patterns.
• Handle explosives safely and prepare blasts.
• Operate stemming loaders and other ancillary equipment.
• Work collaboratively with the crew to meet daily targets.

Kick-start your next move in blasting with Platinum.
With new local contracts we’re looking for experienced Blast Crew to join our crews who have the relevant requirements for the role and are available immediately. You will work across multiple sites within the Bowen Basin. This is a casual opportunity with the potential to transition into a permanent role, offering the flexibility of a 7:7 roster.

The Role

As part of our Blast Crew, you’ll be confident on the bench delivering safe and efficient blasting every day and operating independently. You’ll report to the Shift Supervisor and handle explosives in preparation for blasts.

What You’ll Do

• Dipping, priming, loading, stemming, and tie-in of blast patterns
• Safe use, storage, security, transport, and handling of explosives
• Operating ancillary equipment such as stemming loaders
• Working collaboratively with the crew to achieve daily targets

What You’ll Need

Must-haves:

• Right to work in Australia and based in Queensland
• Previous Blast Crew experience in an open cut mining environment
• A current QLD coal board medical which has been completed within the last 12 months
• Statement of Attainments for explosive handling or relevant RIIs e.g. RIIBLA201E – Support Shotfiring Operations
• Valid QLD Explosives Security Clearance Card
• Able to pass pre-employment checks including medical, drug and alcohol and background check

Nice to have:

• Heavy Rigid (or greater) driver licence
