Job summary

Platinum Blasting Services is seeking an experienced MPU Operator to join our team in a permanent role. You will safely load, transport and pump from mobile mixing units to deliver precise blasting outcomes, reporting to the Shift Supervisor and collaborating with the crew.

You’ll work on a 7:7 roster with local camp facilities, flexible travel options, and a team-focused culture that values safety, support, and career growth.

Qualifications

• Must have MPU/MMU operating experience in open cut mining or similar
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
• Ability to maintain accurate records and reports

Responsibilities

• Operate MPU trucks safely to manufacture and deliver bulk explosives to blast holes
• Track and maintain accurate records and proactively report issues to the Shift Supervisor
• Carry out pre-start checks and support preventative maintenance on equipment
• Follow all safety, environmental, and compliance requirements
• Support the wider team to achieve daily targets

The Role

As an experienced MPU Operator, you’ll be hands on with our mobile mixing units by safely loading, transporting and pumping to deliver precise blasting outcomes. You’ll report to the Shift Supervisor and work closely with the rest of the crew to keep operations on track using advanced equipment in a safety‑first environment.

What You’ll Do

• Operating MPU trucks safely to manufacture and deliver bulk explosives to blast holes
• Track and maintain accurate records and proactively report any issues to the Shift Supervisor
• Carry out pre‑start checks and support preventative maintenance on equipment
• Following all safety, environmental, and compliance requirements
• Support the wider team to achieve daily targets

What You’ll Need

Must-haves:

• Right to work in Australia without restriction
• Previous experience operating MPU/MMU or similar equipment in an open cut mining environment
• Statement of Attainment for MPU Operating e.g. RIIBLA203E – Conduct Mobile Mixing of Explosives
• Heavy Rigid (or greater) drivers’ license
• Standard 11 (or willingness to obtain)
• QLD Explosives Security Clearance Card (or ability to obtain)
• Able to pass pre‑employment checks including medical, drug and alcohol and background checks

Nice to Have:

• Relevant RII to operate a Heavy Rigid Vehicle – RIIVEH307F
