Job summary

Eastcoast Mechanic in Nambucca Heads, NSW, is seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic for a hands-on, full-time role at the heart of our workshop. You will service and repair vehicles to high standards, diagnose faults, and work with modern diagnostic tools.

The successful candidate will hold an automotive trade qualification or equivalent experience, have a current driver's licence, and be reliable, with strong problem solving and customer‑focused communication.

Qualifications

• Recognised automotive trade qualification or equivalent experience.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Proven experience in general automotive repairs and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of engines, transmission, braking and suspension.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical faults using diagnostic tools.
• Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups.
• Inspect vehicles and identify potential problems early.
• Replace worn/damaged parts with quality components.
• Ensure work meets manufacturer specs and safety standards.
• Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop in line with health and safety rules.
• Communicate repair estimates, progress and completion to customers.
• Contribute to workshop efficiency and practices.

Eastcoast Mechanic is seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis in Nambucca Heads, NSW. This is a hands‑on role where you will be at the heart of our operations, providing high-quality mechanical services and repairs to our valued customers. As a Motor Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our reputation for excellence and ensuring every vehicle leaving our workshop meets our exacting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnosing mechanical faults and issues using modern diagnostic tools and equipment
• Performing routine maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid top-ups
• Conducting vehicle inspections and identifying potential problems before they become major issues
• Replacing worn or damaged parts with quality components
• Ensuring all work is completed to manufacturer specifications and safety standards
• Keeping accurate records of all work performed and parts used
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety regulations
• Communicating effectively with customers regarding repair estimates, progress and completion of work
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of workshop practices and efficiency

What we're looking for

• A recognised automotive trade qualification or equivalent experience as a Motor Mechanic
• Current driver's licence
• Proven experience in general automotive repairs and maintenance
• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmission, braking and suspension
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and computer-based vehicle systems
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail
• Strong manual dexterity and physical fitness for hands‑on mechanical work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude
• Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to work
• Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one (if applicable to role requirements)
• Experience with modern vehicle technology and computer diagnostics is highly desirable
