Job summary

Mornington Peninsula Shire is seeking a motivated golf course maintenance worker for the Mount Martha Public Golf Course on a temporary part-time basis. The role focuses on mowing, turf maintenance, bunker preparation and daily course upkeep to deliver high‑quality playing conditions.

Reporting to the MMPGC Superintendent, you will operate and maintain equipment safely, contribute to landscaping and facilities, and work within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Experience in turf, grounds or golf course maintenance.
• Skilled in safe operation of plant and equipment (mowers, tractors).
• Knowledge of turf management principles including irrigation and pests.
• Dependable, proactive work ethic and ability to work outdoors.
• Collaborative team player with strong communication skills.

About the Role

Reporting to the MMPGC Superintendent the core responsibilities include:

• Maintain Golf Course Presentation and Playability
  Undertake mowing, turf maintenance, bunker preparation and course upkeep to deliver high-quality playing conditions and presentation standards.
• Operate and Maintain Equipment Safely
  Operate plant, machinery and irrigation systems safely and effectively while supporting routine maintenance and identifying operational issues.
• Support Grounds and Facility Maintenance
  Maintain course infrastructure, landscaping and facilities to ensure a safe, clean and welcoming environment for golfers and visitors.
• Contribute to a Safe and High-Performing Team
  Work collaboratively to deliver daily maintenance programs, follow safe work practices and support continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

We are looking for a reliable and motivated team player who takes pride in maintaining high-quality golf course conditions and delivering an outstanding experience for golfers and visitors.

• Experience in turf, grounds or golf course maintenance, with practical knowledge of mowing, course presentation, landscaping and general grounds upkeep.
• Skilled in the safe operation of plant and equipment, including mowers, tractors and other turf maintenance machinery, with a strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Knowledge of turf management principles, including irrigation, pest and weed identification, and maintaining healthy playing surfaces.
• A dependable and proactive work ethic, with the ability to work outdoors, follow direction, manage daily tasks and consistently deliver high standards of work.
• A collaborative team player with strong communication skills, who contributes positively to team culture and takes pride in maintaining a safe, welcoming and well-presented golf course environment.
