Job summary

Randstad is seeking a Project Planning and Scheduling Specialist for a 6-month Brisbane-based contract in a leading mining and resources organisation. You will develop and monitor schedules to optimise project delivery and provide risk-informed feedback.

Key responsibilities include advancing schedules in Primavera P6, developing baseline plans, tracking progress, and communicating critical path risks to the team. Flexible work arrangements negotiable; mining experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to develop and monitor project schedules in Primavera P6.

Responsibilities

• Work with project managers to develop schedules for construction, maintenance and upgrades in Primavera P6.
• Develop baseline schedules and monitor them against baselines.
• Develop schedule development plans and schedule assurance reviews.
• Participate in project meetings and guide on progress, critical path, trends and forecasts.
• Provide look-ahead schedules with milestones and priorities.
• Review contractor schedules and reports for risk-based feedback.
• Identify critical activities and communicate to the project team.
• Monitor critical path and propose mitigation to minimise impacts.
• Develop progress curves and forecast monthly progress.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress risk reports.

Job description

Randstad are seeking immediate applications from available and suitable candidates for the role of Project Planning and Scheduling Specialist within a leading mining and resources organisation.

You will provide advice and execute tasks in the development and monitoring of plans and schedules, to maximise the efficient delivery of the project objectives.

Position

Reporting to the team superintendent, your duties will include:

• Work with project managers to develop summary and detailed schedules for construction, maintenance and upgrade projects in Primavera P6
• Develop baseline schedules and monitor/analyse schedules against established baselines
• Develop schedule development plans, the basis of schedule and schedule assurance reviews
• Participate in project team meetings and provide guidance on schedule progress, critical path, trends and forecasts
• Provide look-ahead schedules identifying key milestones and priority activities
• Review and provide risk based constructive feedback on contractor schedules and reports
• Identify activities that are material and critical to the project and business unit and effectively communicate these to the project team
• Monitor critical path activities and provide updates and analysis including possible mitigation efforts to minimise impacts
• Develop planned progress curves, forecast and analyse mid-month and monthly progress
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports detailing the risks associated with the project schedule

Skills and Experience

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

• Ability to establish and maintain clear lines of communication to enable a collective model of the planned activities represented in the project schedule
• Demonstrated list of achievements on past construction projects
• High level of proficiency with Primavera P6 and MS Suite
• Strong understanding of project risks and how to demonstrate within the project schedule
• Critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Work well under pressure and deadline focused
• Consistent with a high attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, proactive, credible and influential
