Job summary

Task Recruitment in Brisbane/Burnie seeks a seasoned IT Program/Project Scheduler to manage complex software development scheduling in a global mining equipment technology context. You will lead chartering sessions, develop network diagrams, and drive integration and compression activities.

Based in Brisbane CBD or Burnie, Tasmania, the role is a 12-month contract paying an hourly rate; 5 days per week in office. You will coordinate with global teams across Australia, the US, and India.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and support program control meetings and compression sessions; adjust schedules during sessions.
• Maintain and lead update meetings for issues, risk registers, scope changes, and cost tracking.
• Lead detail-planning meetings with minimal supervision.
• Create accurate, detailed schedules and analyze relationships and logic errors to propose corrective actions.

Job description

Are you a seasoned & very proactive IT Program/Project Scheduler with experience working on software development projects that are moderate to complex in nature? Do you have a solid understanding of program and project management scheduling tools & processes? Ability to facilitate programs, lead chartering sessions, develop/validate network diagrams, and lead integration & compression sessions. Work assignments may be specialized in nature but may also be broad-based with coordination between other staff personnel to complete a larger, more complex program. This is a challenging role, and you will be working with a talented and collaborative group of people.

You will be working for a global mining equipment & technology OEM in their Underground Mining product development team. The product orchestrates and monitors underground mining operations controlling autonomous mining equipment. The team is distributed across multiple locations within Australia as well as the US and India.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Coordinate with Program Managers to schedule and support program control meetings & compression sessions and has the ability to make schedule changes/corrections during control meetings and compression sessions.
• Maintains and can lead update meetings for program-level issues/action logs, risk registers/FMEAs, scope change requests/logs, program work plans, program cost tracking, and provide workshop planning, execution, and follow-up assistance.
• Lead and conduct detail-planning meetings with no supervision.
• Create accurate and detailed schedules. The incumbent will capture all information, interpret, and identify relationships between activities, analyze data from schedule updates, work with project team members to resolve logic errors, explain changes due to updates, and recommend actions to resolve schedule problems.

Required skills and experience:

• Five or more years of experience in IT project/program scheduling.
• Experience in coordinating teams and clients.
• Proven success in a large & distributed corporate setting, working with all levels of management.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Desirable skills and experience:

• Professional certification such as PMI-SP (Project Management Institute Scheduling Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional).
• Mentoring/coaching and training other Program Schedulers, individual project managers, and project teams in the program management processes and software.
• Product development experience.

The role is based in either the Brisbane CBD office or Burnie, Tasmania, requiring you to be in the office 5 days per week. Candidates must be based in either Brisbane or Burnie, or be willing to relocate to one of these locations to be considered for this role.

Only Australian/New Zealand citizens or Australian PR will be considered for this role.

This is a contract rolerunning for an initial period of 12 months paying an hourly rate. Strong performers will be extended or offered a permanent role.
