Job summary

Aquila Mine, part of Anglo American, is seeking a motivated Mine Technician - Development to support underground development teams at Middlemount, QLD. You will work closely with engineers, surveyors and operations to deliver development targets safely and efficiently.

This role offers a 7 on 7 off roster with 12-hour shifts, FIFO, DIDO or residential options, and access to Anglo American safety standards and EAP. A strong safety mindset and experience in underground coal mining are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in underground coal mining.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of mine planning, development processes and operational reporting.
• Experience working with mine planning and reporting systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
• Relevant mining, engineering, survey or technical qualifications (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate a variety of underground mining equipment.
• Maintaining a safe and productive mining environment.
• Applying statutory obligations as required.
• Operation of equipment to consistently deliver specified hourly targets.
• Work proactively with on-shift peers to ensure a high level of safety & productivity to agreed standards & responsibilities.
• Assist with maintenance activities as required.
• Actively ensure all personal authorisations and competencies are maintained.
• Uniformly applying Anglo American standards and procedures i.e. the mine Safety & Health Management System & Anglo Golden Rules.

Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

Job Description

Aquila Mine are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mine Technician - Development to provide technical support to our underground development team. Working closely with Mining Engineers, Surveyors, Geologists and Operations personnel, you will contribute to the successful delivery of development targets while ensuring compliance with safety and statutory requirements.

You will be responsible for, but not limited too;

• Safely and efficiently operate a variety of underground mining equipment
• Maintaining a safe and productive mining environment
• Applying statutory obligations as required
