Job summary

Ramelius Resources Limited is seeking a Geologist to oversee day-to-day grade control activities at the Mt Magnet operation. You will gather accurate geological data for the mining teams and ensure ore is delineated, marked up and extracted to plan.

The role involves close collaboration with mining and technical teams and potential mentorship of graduates. The position requires a Bachelor in Geology or Geoscience, 2+ years’ experience in a similar open-pit geology role, and proficiency in

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Geology or Geoscience is required.
• 2+ years of experience in a similar mine geology role, open pit gold preferred.
• Proficiency in Surpac, Leapfrog and Micromine is required.
• Experience designing grade control drilling programs and using blast movement monitoring is a must.
• Knowledge of Archean greenstone and complex gold mineralisation systems would be advantageous.
• Strong communication, planning and attention to detail are essential.
• Current WA C Class (manual) driver’s licence and ability to obtain National Police Clearance for site access.

Responsibilities

• Map pit walls and sample RC chips, keeping reference plans accurate and up to date.
• Plan and manage RC grade control programs to delineate ore and supervise pit technicians.
• Build and maintain 3D geological models and create ore blocks for extraction.
• Lead in-pit mark-ups of ore and waste and use blast movement monitoring to guide dig directions.
• Manage and validate drillhole and production data, including QA/QC.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist - Open Pit, you will run day-to-day grade control geology at our Mt Magnet operation, gathering accurate geological data for the geology and mining teams and making sure ore is delineated, marked up and extracted to plan. We currently have several opportunities available across our open pit team.

You will work closely with mining and an experienced technical team, with real exposure to modelling, reconciliation and the in-pit decisions that drive value. There is also scope to lead and mentor graduate geologists and technicians.

Your Day To Day Will Include

• Mapping pit walls and sampling RC chips, keeping reference plans accurate and up to date
• Planning and managing RC grade control programs to delineate ore, and supervising pit technicians through sampling and dispatch
• Building and maintaining 3D geological models and creating ore blocks for effective extraction
• Leading in-pit mark-ups of ore and waste, and using blast movement monitoring to guide dig directions
• Managing and validating drillhole and production data, including QAQC

We're Looking For Someone Who Brings

• A Bachelor of Science in Geology or Geoscience
• 2+ years' experience in a similar mine geology role, open pit gold preferred
• Proficiency in Surpac, Leapfrog and Micromine
• Experience designing grade control drilling programs and using blast movement monitoring
• Knowledge of Archean greenstone and complex gold mineralisation systems
• Strong communication, planning and attention to detail
• A current West Australian C Class (manual) driver's licence and the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance for site access clearance

Block modelling and estimation, end of month reconciliation exposure and contractor supervision experience will be well regarded.
