Job summary

Michael Kors ANZ is seeking an experienced Merchandiser on a 6-month maximum-term contract to drive buying, inventory management and profitability across Australia and New Zealand.

You will partner with local, regional and global teams to ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time, while maintaining healthy stock levels and delivering strong store performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
• 2-3 years' experience in merchandise within luxury or premium fashion retail.
• Extremely sensitive to fashion trend; strong data analysis and Excel skills.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Inventory management: seasonal buying, floor sets, color flow, training, etc.

We are seeking an experienced Merchandiser to join the Michael Kors ANZ team on a 6-month maximum-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving sales, profitability, and inventory performance across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) within a globally recognised luxury fashion brand.

About the Role

Reporting to the Merchandise Manager, you will be responsible for executing buying/inventory and control/training in order to maximize sales and maintain a healthy inventory level in Michael Kors stores in ANZ.

As Merchandiser, you will partner closely with local, regional and global stakeholders to ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

• Seasonal buying, including floor sets, story board, color flow, training etc.
• Product lifecycle and markdown risk (such as core/carryover items vs. fashion newness)
• Sales performance by store, down to the SKU level
• Optimal inventory levels by store according to store type, sales performance and store capacity
• Anticipate peak / slow shopping periods and holidays
• Anticipate future product (such as reserving and rebalancing) according to store opening plan

Merchandise Planning & Buying

• Prioritize key stores and understand product substitutes in limited stock situations
• Prepare allocation for new store openings
• Prepare merchandising communications for stores, in line with seasonal launch periods
• Research and compile competitor activity
• Partner with other team members and functions as needed

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with logistics to ensure timely execution of allocation / replenishment
• Communicate with Area Managers and Store Managers on store requests and needs; enforce efficient transfers / returns from stores
• Understand product needs by store and substitutes in limited stock situations
• Partner with marketing to support special marketing requests (e.g. store events)
• Partner with Visual Merchandiser and Operations Executive on store capacity minimums and maximums

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
