Job summary

SSI Group is seeking a Facilitator – Men’s Behaviour Change to deliver group and individual sessions within the SHER program, supporting men from migrant and refugee backgrounds across Logan, Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and the Gold Coast.

You will conduct intake interviews, risk assessments, and coordinate with the Women’s Safety Practitioner to prioritise safety while maintaining a culturally responsive, non-judgmental approach.

Qualifications

• Completion, or commitment to complete, a minimum of 32 hours of observing intervention group work with people using violence within first 6 months of employment.
• Completion, or commitment to complete, a minimum of 25 hours of specialist group perpetrator intervention training.
• Demonstrated ability to work with relevant services in a case coordination model.
• Knowledge of or ability to rapidly acquire relevant legislation and regulations (e.g., Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012).
• Demonstrated knowledge of culturally responsive practice when working with people from migrant and refugee backgrounds.
• Knowledge of the Duluth Model and dynamics of domestic violence.
• Flexibility to work outside standard business hours, including at least one afternoon shift per week.
• Desirable: bilingual and/or bicultural background.

Responsibilities

• Review and triage referrals into the program.
• Conduct intake and assessment interviews to assess risk, readiness, and suitability for participation in the program.
• Co-facilitate group sessions and individual sessions as required in line with the program manual.
• Contribute to ongoing risk assessment, participant engagement, and case documentation.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes, feedback and reflections in accordance with organisational guidelines after each session.
• Work collaboratively with the Women’s Safety Practitioner and partner services through to prioritise victim-survivor safety.
• Undertake ongoing community engagement to support the objectives of the program.
• Maintain a high quality of professionalism exercising a culturally responsive, non-judgmental, non-biased and non-collusive approach.
