Job summary

Icon Water is seeking a Media and Communications Coordinator to tell the story of its essential water services. You will engage proactively with media, craft content, and deliver timely communications to build trust with customers and the community.

The role focuses on media engagement, content creation, spokesperson support, and incident-related communications, contributing to the reputation of Canberra's key service provider.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in marketing, communications or a related discipline.
• Experience in working in a fast-paced Media environment, with strong public relations and crisis communication experience.
• Experience with online communications, including website maintenance and social media sites.
• Experience in writing, proofreading and editing content.
• Knowledge of effective communication practices.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for media enquiries.
• Build positive relationships with media and key stakeholders.
• Create engaging content that showcases Icon Water's impact.
• Support spokespersons and executive communications.
• Help manage communication during incidents and crises.
• Monitor media coverage and identify emerging issues; promote key projects, campaigns and community initiatives.
• Contribute to communications, events and engagement activities across the business.
