Job summary

APA Group invites applications for a Mechanical Technician Apprentice (fitter) in the Mount Isa region. This full-time, permanent opportunity offers a four-year apprenticeship combining hands-on trades work with formal training to gain a nationally recognised certificate in Mechanical Trade (fitting).

You will learn from experienced technicians while working on essential energy infrastructure, with full TAFE support, tools provided, and travel expenses covered.

Qualifications

• Four-year apprenticeship combining hands-on and formal training.
• Nationally recognised Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (fitting).
• Eligible to work in Australia and ready to undertake an apprenticeship within the Mount Isa region.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planned and reactive maintenance across the Mount Isa region.
• Learn to service, maintain and troubleshoot a wide range of mechanical equipment.
• Support mechanical work under the guidance of qualified technicians.
• Attend TAFE and complete apprenticeship coursework successfully.
• Contribute to preventative and corrective maintenance activities and documentation.
• Help with equipment upgrades, replacements and site facilities maintenance.
