Job summary

Synertec in Melbourne is seeking a hands-on Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineer to deliver multi-project design activities across water, energy, and defence sectors. You will scope, concept design, P&ID development, and testing, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams and clients.

You bring a tertiary degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering, a collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and experience with mechanical systems design.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in mechanical or mechatronics engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical design projects.
  • Experience in high risk industries such as water/utilities, oil & gas, pharma or FMCG is preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical systems design including P&IDs, piping, tanks, pumps, and utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day technical delivery across multiple projects, from greenfield to brownfield upgrades.
  • Scoping, concept design, equipment selection, detailed design, testing and commissioning.
  • Apply mechanical engineering knowledge across diverse clients and portfolios.
  • Collaborate within multi-disciplinary project teams and participate in client meetings.

About the Role:

Reporting into the Team Manager and playing a critical role to our success, your responsibilities will include:

  • Day-to-day technical delivery across multiple projects ranging from longer termgreenfield projects to upgrading and/or refurbishment of Brownfield facilities.
  • Hands on involvement with scoping, concept design, equipment selection,detailed design, through to testing and commissioning stages.
  • Applying sound technical knowledge of mechanicalengineering activities across a range of clients and industry portfolios.
  • Working collaboratively within dynamic multi-disciplinary project teams, involvement in progress meetings and client interactions.
  • Assisting in business development activities as required, involvement in proposal writing and tendor submissions with clients.
  • Ongoing training and development including a mixture of practical &theoretical in-house andexternal training programs.

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant engineering field, this can beMechanical Engineering orMechatronics Engineering.
  • You will have a hands on and collaborative nature, with proven experience across either small to large scale mechanicaldesign related projects.
  • You will have proven experience in a high risk industries; water/utilities, oil & gas, pharmaceutical or FMCG environments.
  • You will ideally have proven projectexperience in mechanical systemsdesign, P&IDs,piping, tanks, pumps and utilities such as heating and cooling systems.
  • You must be an effective and influential communicator, with proven skills dealing directly with clients in a professional capacity.
  • We are looking for this person to grow with the business, ideally you will be self-driven with thewillingness to learn and develop.
  • Engineering Consultancy experience will be highly regarded, but not essential.
