Job summary

Wilmar Sugar & Renewables in North Queensland is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Fitter to maintain, repair and overhauls large scale industrial equipment across our Herbert Region factories. You’ll perform fault-finding, precision fitting and workshop machining in a demanding industrial setting.

The role is maintenance-focused, requiring practical problem solving, and the ability to work with a team of tradespeople and operators.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting) or equivalent recognised trade qualification.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on trade skills.
• Experience with heavy industrial machinery and maintenance environments.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, repair and overhaul large fixed plant and machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and perform practical repairs to minimise downtime.
• Use lathes, milling machines and workshop equipment to repair or manufacture components.
• Undertake preventative and corrective maintenance to keep equipment running safely.
• Collaborate with tradespeople and operations to plan maintenance activities.
