Job summary

Ampcontrol is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Fitter to join our Rutherford-based workshop team. You will maintain, overhaul and repair underground mining equipment, diagnosing faults and interpreting drawings for quality workmanship.

In this role you’ll handle workshop machinery, work with a collaborative team, and contribute to safety, quality and continuous improvement across projects.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting (Certificate III or equivalent).
• Experience in heavy industrial, mining or manufacturing environments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with fault-finding skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repairs and overhauls on underground mining equipment, safely and to a high standard.
• Inspect equipment, diagnose faults and identify repair solutions.

Job description

We're looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team based at Rutherford, working on the maintenance, overhaul and repair of underground mining equipment.

This is a hands-on opportunity to apply your mechanical expertise in a workshop environment, working on equipment essential to underground mining operations. If you enjoy fault finding, solving mechanical challenges and delivering quality workmanship as part of a team, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repairs and overhauls on underground mining equipment, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.


• Inspect equipment, diagnose faults and identify effective repair solutions.


• Read and interpret engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics and technical documentation.


• Safely operate workshop machinery, tools and equipment.


• Work collaboratively with the team to meet project deadlines and production requirements.


• Maintain a strong focus on workplace health and safety, quality and continuous improvement.

About You

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting (Certificate III or equivalent).


• Experience in heavy industrial, mining or manufacturing environments.


• Strong mechanical aptitude with proven fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.


• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.


• Familiarity with underground mining equipment, particularly continuous miners, shuttle cars and associated components, will be highly regarded.


• Current C Class driver's licence and reliable transport.


• A strong commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail.


• A team-focused approach with good communication skills.
