Job summary

Ampcontrol in New South Wales is seeking a motivated Mechanical Fitter to maintain, repair and overhaul underground mining equipment. You'll read drawings and hydraulic schematics and work safely on site.

Ideal candidates hold a Certificate III in Mechanical Fitting, have heavy industrial or mining experience, and a valid C Class licence. You will join a team committed to quality, safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting (Certificate III or equivalent).
• Experience in heavy industrial, mining, or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
• Current C Class driver’s licence.

• Perform maintenance, repairs and overhauls on underground mining equipment.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repairs and overhauls on underground mining equipment, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Inspect equipment, diagnose faults and identify effective repair solutions.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics and technical documentation.
• Safely operate workshop machinery, tools and equipment.
• Work collaboratively with the team to meet project deadlines and production requirements.
• Maintain a strong focus on workplace health and safety, quality and continuous improvement.

About You

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting (Certificate III or equivalent).
• Experience in heavy industrial, mining or manufacturing environments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with proven fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
• Familiarity with underground mining equipment, particularly continuous miners, shuttle cars and associated components, will be highly regarded.
• Current C Class driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• A strong commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail.
• A team-focused approach with good communication skills.
